Marc Jacobs especially is giving a nod to teens with his new line called Heaven. As Steff Yotka fondly recalls for Vogue, there existed an MJ store in the early aughts on the corner of Bleeker and West 11th Streets in NYC. You could stock up on lipstick pens, key fobs, bandanas, and t-shirts with Naomi Campbell and Victoria Beckham on them. The store was a hit.
She shares, “The idea of fashion as a glamorous escape was at its peak in those years, with TV shows like The Hillsand America’s Next Top Model fantasizing about how any girl could be plucked from her ho-hum life and turn into the girl who went to Paris.” The store closed in the 2010s and fashion shifted away from teen glitzy looks to a more serious façade. As we well know, all good things come back and teens are, like, ready for a True Fashionista designer like Marc Jacobs who slays. The Heaven line features t-shirts and hoodies with phrases like “more teen angst” as well as baby rib cardigans. You’ll also find vintage magazines, CDs and a selection of stuffed animals inspired by a dual-headed bear that appears in a 1994 photograph of a nude Katie Grand, Jacobs’ longtime collaborator.
FLANNEL
Yep, grunge is baaack. Wish we’d have kept our Dr. Martens! Those things do NOT wear out! Thank you, Seventeen for the list of 15 cute ways to wear your favorite flannel, which include as a skirt, unbuttoned over a white tee, oversized with over-the-knee boots, or going super daring unbuttoned over a sports bra and bike shorts, finished off with your fave Dr. Martens or straight up combat boots. Your Pearl Jam CD is calling!

In other fall shoe news, hot teen fashion spotlights crazy new footwear trends, like snakeskin sneakers from the likes of Dolce Vita and Vince Camuto, Zara’s heeled split leather bucked cowboy ankle boots and Steve Madden’s print mules. And did someone say True Fashionista platform sneakers and boots? Aw yeah! Elsewhere in boots, big chunky bootie height Chelsea boots are happenin’ as well. Circus by Sam Edelman and Pull&Bear both offer a version thereof. We can’t help but give a nod to Doc Martens’ Holly women’s metallic leather platforms and Vellezzo’s copper Oxford shoe. Verry True Fashionista.

Yes, you may be one of the many students staying home and attending school virtually this fall. That does NOT mean you shouldn’t get a brand spankin’ new True Fashionista backpack.
